Who We Are:

Angels2u Cocker Rescue was formed about 10 years ago when several different dogs found their way to our home. First was a stray on the streets that the finder wouldn’t let in the house for fear it might hurt his “little” dogs.  After the terrible loss of my 3 year old cocker, Freckles became our little “angel”, letting me know that she was still there and needed just as much love.  Over the years, she helped new dogs adjust and of course made sure they knew from time to time that she was there FIRST!!  Next, came a couple of young dogs that had been used for “backyard” breeding.  The male had very few social skills and the female just wanted as far from puppies as she could get!  The male is still with us as he will never be adoptable, but he did find his place along side Freckles as an ambassador to all the unwanted cockers that have crossed our doorstep!

We now take in primarily strays and cocker “kids” that can no longer stay with their families for what ever reason. We also take cockers from the Humane Society when they are deemed “unadoptable” for personality or medical issues.  Once the cocker has made the road to recovery, they find a “forever” home that is suited just for them.  Some of the cockers do however, never find a home for what ever reason, and will remain with Cocker Rescue for the rest of their days.  No cocker is ever euthanized just to make room for more.  Many of the older cockers have their special places on the couches, beds and pillows that they consider their personal property.

We have taken in many litters and are now quite adapt at raising puppies as well.  In fact the last litter was the 6 puppies that came in from Hurricane Katrina.

We are an all volunteer organization and depend on donations to help these kids survive.  Many can take up to a year or more to recover from the trauma that has been caused to them by humans.  During that time, we provide them with all the food, toys and vet services that are needed as well as plenty of TLC.  Sometimes these poor kids don’t know that it doesn’t hurt to be touched and loved by a human being!

We are in located in Phoenix, Arizona.  All cockers are kept in private homes, so can not be viewed like at a shelter.  We do require a home visit and application prior to adoption.  Once references have been checked, we will set up the home visit along with the dog most likely to fit into your home.  We are sorry, but we can not adopt to families with young children, as many of these cockers have come from very abusive backgrounds and do not always feel comfortable with younger children.  We absolutely can not adopt out of state…please don’t ask.
